The Benefits
Captains Mountain Wind Farm will deliver meaningful, long-term benefits for the local region and its communities, including:
- Significant regional investment supporting local businesses, accommodation providers and service industries.
- Opportunities for local contractors, suppliers and trades, with a focus on using Queensland-based expertise wherever possible.
- Up to 275 jobs expected at peak during construction.
- Around 5 to 10 ongoing local jobs in operations, maintenance and site management once the wind farm is operational.
- Development of skilled labour in the region as part of Queensland’s growing renewable energy workforce.
- Alignment with the Queensland Energy Roadmap 2025, which promotes responsible, community-focused energy development and continued investment in regional areas.
Community Benefits Fund
Captains Mountain Wind Farm plans to work in partnership with the local community to design a community benefits fund that delivers tangible and positive results. This scheme is intended to last for the life of the project. Further details will be provided as the project develops.
Community Grants and Sponsorships
During the development phase of Captains Mountain there are some funds available for local grants or sponsorships that support social well-being. Captains Mountain Wind Farm is committed to supporting projects or initiatives to achieve tangible positive results in the community by providing sponsorships to local organisations, services, and events.
